mark twain once said “write what you know about…” and for me that narrows it down. i don’t know much, but what i do know about, i’m well versed in. jimmy buffett is my hero. don’t get me wrong i’d love to meet jesus, mother teresa, bono, you know, the basic saints, but jimmy buffett is my hero.
i also love football, namely the miami dolphins, and the ohio state buckeyes. once, a lifetime ago, i enjoyed baseball and basketball, now i despise them both.
i also love music, all kinds, but my tastes change as often as my underwear (which is daily). aside from jimmy buffett, i love bob marley, bruce cockburn, steve goodman, death cab for cutie, jack johnson, ben harper, ben folds, the postal service, kenny chesney, caedmon’s call and the counting crows, just to mention a few.
movies. movies such as bad boys one & two, love actually, star wars (the original trilogy), the godfather, and daniel craig as james bond. i’ve never seen pulp fiction, reservoir dogs, or goodfellas in it’s entirety.
books. books such as my number one favorite, following the equator, by mark twain, islands in the stream, by hemingway, treasure island, by stevenson, followed by the complete collections of carl hiaasen, tom corcoran, david sedaris, and jimmy buffett. i’m also a fan of the poetry of don blanding.
i am in my late twenties, but feel i’ve lived enough to be fifty. i’ve been in the military, it’s not glamorous. it’s actually suicidally depressing. i have a beautiful wife named jenefer and two beautiful little girls named lily and bella. the other love of our life is our cute beagle named lola, after the jimmy buffett song frank and lola. i love being on the ocean but i am terrified of swimming in it. i love the feeling of hot sand between my toes, i hate shoes. i wish that the government would do more to preserve the everglades and the coastal coral reefs along with the arctic shelves… i think that everyone needs to watch al gore’s an inconvenient truth. and in a nut shell, that is me.
